Pool. No water

by Mark Ravenhill
directed by Alexandru Mihăescu

Considered an extremely formal experimental text of the new British dramaturgy, “Pool. (No water)” brings forward, undisguised, subjects such as the morality of the artistic act, success and failure, pragmatism in art, friendship and betrayal, but also drug abuse.

A renowned actress jumps into an empty pool and ends up in a coma at the hospital. For her group of friends, her mutilated body is the starting point for creating a work of art. They document for months, using a camera, the evolution of her condition, “the miracle of healing”, projecting the future fame. Their feelings are conflicting. The border between love and hate, happiness and despair, grudge and contempt proves to be nothing but a thin line.

Premiere: October 6, 2008, 7 p.m.
