Mizgin Bilmen was born 1983 in Duisburg (Nordrhein-Westfalen) and grown up there. Her cultural roots are lying in the south-eastern Anatolia, in the Kurdish region of Mardin.
After her Baccalaureate in 2003 and a voluntary social year at the primary school, in 2005, she started her studies of German and Sociology at the Technical University Dortmund.
In 2009 she came first as intern at the Theatre at the Ruhr, in Mülheim at the Ruhr, and stayed there one and a half year to get more experienced in theatre work. There she could work for the first time with international partners, in form of tours (Swiss, Austria, Iran, Belgium and Tunisia) and guest performances (Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Ghana, Cairo, Congo, Kurdistan and France).
Since summer of 2010 Mizgin Bilmen is studying Stage Direction at the Folkwang University of Arts and will complete her studies in 2014 with the Artist Diploma.
